Ajay holds degrees from DR. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology in India and brings over 17 years of international structural engineering experience. As a Chartered Professional Engineer registered on the National Engineering Register, he specializes in residential and commercial structures, with recent projects including developments across Castle Hill, West Ryde, and Kellyville.

Aldis is the founder of Birzulis, establishing the firm in 1989 after distinguished careers with Main Roads Department and Miller Milston Ferris, where he became Director in 1974. His exceptional portfolio includes the High Court of Australia, QV1 Building Perth, Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, and National Gallery of Australia extensions. Now serving as Consultant, Aldis continues to share his expertise gained from over 5,500 projects spanning five decades of structural and civil engineering excellence. 

Andrew has been with Birzulis since completing his studies in 1993, accumulating over 30 years of structural drafting experience. His extensive project portfolio includes major works like Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, Hillsong Christian Church, high-rise commercial buildings, and numerous aged care and educational facilities.

Bailey graduated with honors from University of Newcastle in 2023 and started his career immediately with Birzulis. Under senior engineer mentorship, he has worked across residential, commercial, educational, and aged care projects including Gilroy College, Australian Border Force Admin Building, and several hotel refurbishments in the Newcastle region.

Bruno has been a Director of Birzulis since 1989, bringing decades of structural and civil engineering expertise to the firm. A University of NSW graduate with First Class Honours and University Medal, he’s led projects from Garden Island’s naval facilities to major educational developments like Thomas Hassall Anglican College. His experience spans everything from prestressed concrete and structural steel to roadworks and foundation design.

Carol has been with Birzulis since 1996, managing the coordination between our engineering teams, clients, and project partners across both Sydney and Newcastle offices. With nearly three decades of experience, she keeps our projects on track, ensures smooth communication, and maintains the professional standards our clients expect – while also remembering every team member’s birthday and fostering the positive culture that defines Birzulis.

As Civil Lead since 2024, Chris brings extensive experience in delivering complex transport infrastructure projects including motorways, bridges, and strategic road networks. His notable projects span the Rozelle Interchange, M4 Smart Motorways, and Port Kembla developments, demonstrating expertise in both construction and design engineering. Chris’ focus on safety-driven design solutions strengthens Birzulis’ civil engineering capabilities across major infrastructure developments.

Chuzhou has worked as a structural/civil draftsman since 2008 and joined Birzulis in 2018. He holds certificates in Detail Drafting and Civil Construction Design, working on both structural and civil projects including Waves Aquatic Centre, multiple schools, and major hospital redevelopments.

Cliff brings over 35 years of drafting experience across mechanical, structural, civil, and facades disciplines to Birzulis, with expertise spanning from traditional board drawings to modern software packages. Having recently joined after 3.5 years at Northrop Consulting Engineers, he has worked on diverse projects from Shoal Bay Country Club to Newcastle Grammar School, applying his comprehensive experience in both design and workshop detail drafting.

Dalia joined Birzulis in March 2025 as a Structural Draftsperson, bringing over 15 years of experience in producing precise technical drawings for complex structural projects. With a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Baghdad University and extensive experience across high-rise commercial, residential, and retail developments, she specialises in creating detailed 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and Revit, having worked with firms including JSBC Consulting, D’Ambrosio Consulting, and Richmond and Ross on projects ranging from luxury residential homes to multi-level commercial buildings and aged care facilities.

Ed graduated from UNSW in December 2020 and began his career as a graduate structural engineer at Cardno, where he worked from November 2019 to May 2023. Joining Birzulis in March 2025 as a Structural Engineer, Ed brings experience from educational and institutional projects including Macquarie University sports refurbishment, Wollondilly Anglican College sports precinct, and renovations at Ascham, Bethel Christian School, and Cranbrook School, demonstrating particular expertise in educational facility upgrades and sports infrastructure.

Ernan rejoined Birzulis in 2022 as Senior Revit Draftsperson, having first started with us as a trainee in 2014. With over a decade of experience and a Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting from TAFE NSW, he specialises in documenting structural drawings for multi-storey residential projects, aged care facilities, and educational buildings. His notable projects include Gilroy College Stage 2, Fresh Hope RACF East Maitland, Australian Border Force Admin Building, and numerous schools across NSW, bringing deep Revit expertise and technical precision to every project.

Grishmi started her civil engineering career with Camden Council as a stormwater/asset engineer and joined Birzulis in 2022. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering (Honours) from the University of Western Sydney and is a member of Engineers Australia. Her project experience includes educational facilities such as Bede Polding College and Macarthur Anglican School, healthcare projects like Bowral Hospital, and infrastructure work on police facilities and residential subdivisions.

Heliya joined Birzulis in April 2025 as a Civil Design Engineer, bringing over 3 years of expertise in stormwater design, hydraulic modeling, and land development across Australia and New Zealand. With a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) from the University of Canterbury and experience from Kirk Roberts Consulting in Auckland, she specialises in designing stormwater systems, flood mitigation solutions, and civil infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, DRAINS, and MUSIC, ensuring compliance with NSW environmental regulations while delivering practical solutions for residential and commercial projects.

Joel first joined Birzulis in September 2018, developing his drafting skills over five years before pursuing further opportunities. He returned to the team in July 2025 as a Civil Draftsperson. A graduate from UWS Parramatta (2024), Joel has contributed to significant educational projects including Karuah Public School and St Michaels Primary School, demonstrating his commitment to creating detailed civil drawings that support the development of community infrastructure.

John joined Birzulis in 2005 and advanced to senior drafting positions within the company. He successfully transitioned from 2D to modern 3D software in 2020, working on prestigious projects including National Gallery of Australia, multiple Anglican schools, police stations, and Tempo Apartments.

Jonathan joined Birzulis in 2012 and has advanced to Associate Director in 2023, bringing expertise from both Van der Meer and his comprehensive project portfolio. His structural engineering experience spans major educational developments like Thomas Hassall Anglican College and Lindfield Learning Village, plus specialised projects including aged care facilities and police stations. Jonathan combines advanced qualifications with hands-on experience in everything from seismic retrofitting to complex foundation design.

Mark brings a unique blend of mechanical and structural engineering expertise, with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics from Newcastle and a Master of Structural Engineering from Southern Queensland. After nine years in the mining industry, he transitioned to structural engineering in 2018 and joined Birzulis in 2023. Mark is a Chartered Professional Engineer registered on the National Engineering Register, with experience across education, hospitality, and community projects including Australian International Academy, Junction Inn Raymond Terrace, and Police Gymnasium Goulburn.

Mercy graduated from University of Saint Louis, Philippines in 2006 and worked internationally before joining Birzulis in 2022. She holds a Certificate IV in Civil Construction Design and specializes in documenting residential, commercial, and educational projects including Macarthur Anglican School and Kennards Self Storage.

Michael is a Chartered Professional Engineer with deep expertise in reinforced concrete, post-tensioned systems, structural steel, and timber design. Since joining Birzulis in 1999, he’s progressed to Director and led projects including the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, National Gallery of Australia, and multiple educational facilities. His hands-on approach combines technical design excellence with practical site supervision experience.

Mori brings international experience from New York, San Francisco, and Sydney, with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from University of Texas. Since joining Birzulis in 2022, he has worked on education and commercial projects including Nowra Anglican College, TAFE facilities, and various residential developments, leveraging his diverse background in mid-rise and high-rise construction.

Paul started with Birzulis while completing his degree at University of Newcastle and has grown within the company over 17+ years, becoming Associate Director in 2016 and Director in 2023. His structural engineering expertise spans major educational complexes like Thomas Hassall Anglican College, mixed-use developments including ‘The Herald’ Apartments in Newcastle, and specialized projects such as Fire & Rescue NSW facilities. Paul earned his Master of Structural Engineering from University of Sydney in 2016.

Richard has been a trusted structural engineer at Birzulis for over 22 years, progressing to Associate Director in 2023. His extensive portfolio spans major educational projects including North Sydney Boys High School and Presbyterian Ladies College, plus complex developments like the 15-story commercial tower at Kent Street. Richard combines deep technical expertise in reinforced concrete and structural steel with hands-on site supervision experience across Sydney’s most challenging projects.

Rob is an experienced Structural Draftsman with over 40 years in the building design industry. He began his career as an apprentice at Miller Milston Ferris in 1984 and rose to Senior Structural Draftsman through a decade of hands-on project delivery. Since 1996, Rob has contributed to Birzulis with increasing leadership responsibilities, culminating in his appointment as BIM Manager in 2022.

He brings a strong understanding of structural drafting principles, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving skills. Rob is highly proficient in Revit for structural modelling and documentation, with deep experience across residential, educational, and aged care sectors.

Notable projects include Ocean Breeze Apartments, Lavender Apartments, Thomas Hassall Anglican College, Brigidine College Randwick, and CASS Residential Aged Care Facility.

Roy graduated from UNSW and gained diverse experience with firms in Hong Kong, NSW Public Works, and Hartcher Consulting before joining Birzulis in 2017. He specializes in reinforced concrete, structural steel, and foundation design, with extensive experience in education projects including numerous Catholic colleges and primary schools across Sydney.

Starting as an intern with Central Coast Council’s Water Asset Management team, Rushini gained valuable experience at Acor Consultants in stormwater design and land development before joining Birzulis’ civil team. Her project portfolio includes Lake Macquarie Private Hospital, Porsche Centre Newcastle, Newcastle Education Campus, and TAFE NSW facilities at Muswellbrook and Wyong, demonstrating her growing expertise in hospitality, aged care, and commercial sectors. Currently in her final year pursuing a dual degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Honours) at the University of Newcastle.

Stephanie completed her Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting at TAFE NSW in 2024 and joined Birzulis as a trainee draftsperson. Currently pursuing her Diploma of Engineering – Technical, she’s developing her skills on projects including Hexham Bowling Club and Maitland Grossmann High School, learning how precise drafting supports efficient construction while working alongside experienced engineers.

Bringing over 10 years of academic experience as a university lecturer in Vietnam and research engineer at UTS, Vu transitioned to industry practice at Birzulis in May 2025 as a Structural Engineer. With a PhD in Structural Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney and international expertise across Vietnam, South Korea, and Australia, she specialises in complex structural analysis, including major cable suspension bridges for Griffith City and Armidale Regional Councils, advanced FEA for fire-resistant buildings, and telecommunications tower design, bringing rigorous academic expertise to practical engineering challenges.
